The new upscale Williamsburg apartment rental, 60 Monitor, is one week away from its ‘Grand Opening’ set for Saturday, October 17th. The complex features 1 bedroom apartments starting at $1,600 and 2 bedrooms at $2,300. Don’t be fooled - prices seem like a good deal, however they are priced appropriately at current market value, especially considering the building sits on the corner of Monitor St and Meeker Ave, adjacent to the BQE (Brooklyn Queens Expressway). Several units face the BQE while others have the preferred Monitor Street view. The walk to the Graham L stop takes approximately 10 minutes, and the Nassau G stop is an alternative option (12 minute walk). For those who own a car, the property may be ideal as on-site parking is not only available, but priced very reasonably. 60 Monitor features all of the perks and amenities that make renting property in a new building so attractive; elevator, laundry, roof deck, fitness center, and parking are available to all tenants. While I wouldn’t classify 60 Monitor as my favorite Williamsburg rental option, it is indeed priced to rent.

The building is also ideal for all of the bike messengers, or bike messenger look alikes seen throughout the Burg. With secure bike storage, and Boneshakers, the local, vegan, quirky coffee/sandwich shop, located just around the corner, what more could you ask for? Boneshakers is a hangout that many bicycle enthusiasts have made their regular drinking hole, well coffee drinking that is. The small shop offers an array of unexpected vegan fare. If I am not mistaken, the ‘Magnus’ is a menu favorite. The sandwich consists of a bean and vegan patty, fakin bacon, sprouts, tomato, and vegan mayo on rosemary foccacia. My only qualm with the shop is that they clearly play favorites to a certain clientele. There is a sign next to the register which reads, “Specials, Only to Bike Messengers”. So, if you are indeed a bike messanger, or hipster-vegan-bike messenger look-a-like, I recommend paying a visit to Boneshakers . . . for all others use your own discretion.
