North 7 Associates LLC have a big burden on their hands with one of their latest condo projects on North 7th st between Bedford and Berry in Williamsburg. It seems as if they have completely disregarded zoning laws in the area and decided to build above the regulated height limit. Maybe they heard a rumor that the zoning and airspace rules were about to change and decided to jump the gun? One thing is for sure: As time goes by, money is lost, and the burden grows larger. I have lived in the area for a year now and have seen no construction on the site. What I have seen is rust spreading quickly throughout the entire standing structure. Maybe the tired economy has slowed construction in the area? The photo below is of a construction site on Driggs and North 9th st. The project has been moving along quite slowly as well. Maybe this is a sign that New York city and the Boroughs are not impervious to the country’s slowing market. Will a change at the top help out? Obama? Hillary?
