Williamsburg’s constantly growing population floods the L Train daily, entering and exiting Manhattan during the work week. On the weekend foot traffic increases as thousands of tourists and Williamsburgites hit the streets to eat, shop, find a piece of local artwork, or enjoy activities at McCarren park. As old lofts and apartments become renovated and new condos go up the interest in the area continues to grow. The proximity to Manhattan and easy access via the L Train and Williamsburg Bridge has allowed the area to flourish.
DUMBO has a unique personality of it’s own (DUMBO is an acronym for Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass). The once primarily manufacturing district is now occupied by artists and young homesteaders looking for the next hot spot. Many ‘Mom & Pop’ restaurants, boutiques, and galleries can be found on DUMBO’s narrow cobblestone filled streets. The views of Manhattan from the Fulton Ferry State Park, located between the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Bridge, will amaze any tourist or local. Like Williamsburg, DUMBO also offers easy and quick access to Manhattan via the A, C, & F Trains and both bridges.
Which area would you prefer to live in? This discussion is set up to invite you to offer your opinion regarding both DUMBO & Williamsburg. What are your pros and cons?
